Hortus Pink that combine naturalism and modernity with a special focus on celebrating the planted medium, with a delicate impact on the land. We look to forge connections between people and place. We bring an analytical design approach together with a detailed understanding of the nature of a place, and the wishes of our clients.
A garden design consultation with Hortus Pink will lets clients ask questions and allows us to help determine what's important to include or exclude in a new dream garden.
The requirements for all new gardens are unique, especially when combined with the budget, garden situation and client lifestyle needs. We really listen to our client ideas and requests to help shape a garden vision and ensure it fits their lifestyle for the long term.
Clear and documented communication at each stage of the design process ensures that the final design phase is on brief and the build is affordable. Clients receive creative ideas to help refine and define the vision, tools to help visualise the inspiration, concept sketches with a customised hand drawn design/ Master Plan on paper. Taking the plans and constructing the garden is also a process that requires the skills of both the designer and the builder/ landscaper to realise the vision and transform ideas on paper into a real life garden.
Our design work is priced based on the size of each garden, the build budget and degree of change required. To design a small garden it costs between £700 and £1,500, a medium garden between £1,500 and £2,300, and a large garden between £2,300 and £3,500. Note: these costs are have travel expenses and VAT added.
Depending on each clients needs, some or all of the following services come in a bespoke Hortus Pink design package:
We keep up to date with latest design trends, construction methods and materials innovation, but always aim use local materials wherever we can. Our specialised and beautifully built hard landscaping enhances every garden around a property. We work tirelessly to provide stunning structural features, perfect focus points and beautiful functional garden landscaping, through the following:
Utilising the latest materials and the more traditional ones, we strive to deliver the highest quality workmanship. Piecing the built areas together and connecting a property to its garden takes planning, technical skills to ever changing industry standards and structural building knowledge. Knowledge of house building is essential in all our built projects and specialised landscaping technical skills are our passion. This means we do the heavy lifting and build a Hortus Pink garden design with our seamlessly integrated expert building and hard landscaping team.
To build a small garden it costs more than people realise, but if you consider we have the same labour, materials, machinery, skills and industry regulations - costs mount quickly. It costs between £15,000 and £25,000 for a small garden, a medium garden between £25,000 and £50,000, and a large garden between £50,000 and £200,000. Note: these costs are inclusive of planting, but do have VAT added on top.
It's rare for clients not to use our build services, because our seamless one-stop-shop approach to delivering new gardens is hard to resist, but when an alternative provider is needed we always advocate a contractor belonging to either the APL or BALI. By keeping in touch at key stages throughout the build, we help clients who are not confident at project management or who have very little knowledge of landscaping best practice and industry standards.
Each project aims to increase plant biodiversity and have a positive impact on the health and well-being of the client, the environment, and our natural world. Complimentary planting, the art and technique of helping a garden achieve its full potential, is always the creative flourish to truly complete a new garden. When stylish planting schemes are added, the ‘wow-factor’ takes a careful garden investment to a whole new level.
We provide planting advice, plant supply and installation throughout Essex and Suffolk. Delivered as part of a build project or independently as a border refresh service, our planting schemes aim to provide year round interest and can cover many styles, from contemporary to traditional, including:
Living in the UK within our dryer counties of Essex and Suffolk, we always try and incorporate a degree of ecologically balanced dry garden schemes to reduce the need for watering. Added to which, more recent drought to flood conditions poser an even greater challenge to navigate successfully in the garden. All our planting schemes consider soil type, wind exposure, moisture retention and light levels so plants have the best chances of, not just surviving, but thriving.
Independent border refresh
If clients purely need to freshen up their garden planting, we have numerous and scalable options for selection, available as either a consultation with written report for DIY implementation (costs £300 + VAT) or a fully supplied and installed service:
For fully supplied and installed planting packages it costs between £2,000 and £6,000 for a small garden, a medium garden between £6,000 and £10,000, and a large garden between £10,000 and £18,000 for an independent border refresh. Note: these costs have VAT added on top.
Connecting a property to its landscape by adding planted beauty, form, fragrance, colour, movement and structure is an exciting addition to modern garden life. Utilising professional help to enhance a tired or disappointing garden need not be intimidating or hard, there is a solution for every need and garden situation.

At Hortus Pink, we believe that landscaping is more than just laying patio’s and planting trees. It's about creating a beautiful and functional outdoor space that enhances your quality of life. That's why we work closely with our clients to understand your needs and vision, and then bring it to life through our expert craftsmanship. We ultimately strive to design a garden you can afford to build and one that you will enjoy for years to come.
We have all necessary insurance for our projects across both public liability and professional indemnity.
Some larger construction projects require special licenses and certifications for machinery operation, which our construction team manage directly under the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015.
Our team members have extensive hard landscaping and building experience, strong horticultural backgrounds, and creative flair. We utilise an established network of expert sub-contractor brick layers, landscapers, electricians, carpenters and plumbers. We regularly work together in order to deliver our projects to an exceptionally high standard. We will all be familiar with the garden landscape needs and collectively deliver a new garden, from initial vision to installation completion. As well as being highly skilled in our own fields, our brilliant team are exceptionally hard working, diligent, punctual, approachable, personable and tidy.
We offer all kinds of design approaches with soft and hard landscaping combined seamlessly. Our specialty is in mixing trees, shrubs and perennial planting with hard landscaped garden structures to build a stunning new outside space that both meets your needs and fits the ecology of your area. We always consider wildlife and the environment. We are members of professional bodies (both design and build) to keep our knowledge up to date and hold us to account for superior builds that last the test of time.
Hortus Pink design services operate UK wide. Our build and plant services currently operate throughout Essex and Suffolk.
It can be, it just depends on what you want to achieve. Garden landscaping costs are very similar to general building as we use many of the same skills and materials. We are also governed by the same industry regulations. We price projects depending on the size of a garden and the scale of works we need to deliver. Hard landscaping always costs more than soft landscaping.
We can make most projects fit a reasonable budget and will always discuss options to reduce the cost or phase the implementation for clients. We have many affordable options to help refresh existing boarders and lawns so a lengthy design and landscaping project may not always be necessary.
